Culinary News: The Talisker Club is the winner of the prestigious 2009 Utah Ultimate Chef Challenge. The Iron-Chef style competition pits four culinary teams of three chefs each from four of the finest restaurants in Utah. The Taliskser Club team is now invited to compete at Chefdance 2010, a Park City-sponsored 10-day cooking contest that is held during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The Utah Ultimate Chef Challenge is a yearly event sponsored by Nicholas & Company during its annual food show. This year's show took place at the South Towne Expo Center in Park City.
Flavor, presentation, and originality were the criteria used by the judging committee in rating the teams' dishes. Beef was this year's secret ingredient, as each team was given 90 minutes to prepare four to six dishes centered on beef. The Talisker team presented six entrees, including Surf and Turf, Fraiche Filet Mignon Tartar, and Bloody Mary Salad.
Talisker's three-chef culinary team of John Murcko, Clement Gelas, and Maria Mantilla were victorious over teams of top chefs representing Tuscany, Franck's, Fresco, Trios, and Luganos.
"It was exciting to represent Talisker Club and compete against some of Utah's top culinary talents. We are all extremely proud to have earned this honor and believe it helps further confirm that we have accomplished our goal of bringing unparalleled cuisine to the members of Talisker Club," said Chef John Murcko, VP of culinary services.
The Talisker Club is an exclusive, upscale real estate project built on more than 10,000 acres of Deer Valley® Resort. There are three luxury-property developments -- Tuhaye, Empire Pass, and Red Cloud -- that form one community. Aside from the gourmet cuisine, there are numerous amenities and recreational activities available year round, including snow skiing, a championship golf course, spa and fitness centers, fly-fishing, water-related sports, and various family activities.
